Foreign Credential Evaluations, Inc.

Evaluation Types

There are two basic types of evaluations: Document-by-Document and Course-by-Course Read on to decide which one you need.

Document by Document

This evaluation cites the documentation provided by the applicant.

The applicant’s education, starting with secondary school and progressing through all stages and awards of post-secondary education, is described and evaluated for equivalency to the U.S. system of education.

Admissions requirements are listed for each level of study.

The recognition status of the awarding institution is included.

Source material by which the equivalency is determined is also cited in the evaluation.

This evaluation can be requested by an individual or by a company, university or legal firm.

Marksheets/transcripts AND diplomas/degree certificates in both the original language and in an official English translation should be mailed to:

Alternately, documents can be scanned and emailed to Carolyn Christie at: carolyn_christie@fceatlanta.com. We will contact you if we deem it necessary for you to send original documents after reviewing scanned documents.

THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO APPLICANTS FOR IMMIGRATION PURPOSES

Document-by-document evaluations are generally acceptable for obtaining a variety of visas. For the link to USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) go to www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis. Usually, immigration attorneys handle filing of visa applications but individuals can make application by following the steps set forth in the government’s guidelines. An excellent book, How to Secure Your H-lB Visa by James A. Bach & Robert G. Werner published in 2013 (ISBN-13)(Electronic):978-1-4302-4729-6 contains valuable information on H-lB visas.

Course by Course

This evaluation is usually for international students who wish to enroll in a U.S. institution of higher education, or for professionals seeking licensure for employment.

It includes the information contained in the Document-by-Document evaluation. A description of a Document-by-Document evaluation can be found here.

In addition, it lists each course on the student’s transcript, converts the units to U.S. semester credit hours, and converts the grades to the U.S. 4.0 (A-F) grading scale. A cumulative grade point average is also included on a 4.0 numeric scale.

THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO APPLICANTS WHO WISH TO PURSUE EDUCATION IN A US INSTITUTION OF LEARNING OR EMPLOYMENT WHEN GRADE POINT AVERAGES AND A LISTING OF TAUGHT COURSES IS REQUIRED:

The Course-by-Course Evaluation is the only form of evaluation acceptable to most U.S. colleges or universities as well as some technical institutions (please confirm with the International Admissions Office of the institution you plan to attend). Where applicants need only show successful completion of higher secondary/high school, a Document-by-Document evaluation is accepted in some cases.

For Course-by-Course evaluations Foreign Credential Evaluations, Inc. must receive your official transcripts in a sealed envelope directly from the institution(s) you attended outside the U.S.

Marksheets/transcripts AND diplomas/degree certificates in both the original language and in an official English translation should be mailed to:

FOREIGN CREDENTIAL EVALUATIONS, INC.
1425 Market Boulevard, Suite 530
PMB #305
Roswell, GA 30076

Alternately, your original education documents, including degree certificates, diplomas and marksheets/transcripts can be submitted to the international admissions office of the U.S. university to which you are applying. That office can send an email with scanned copies of the records they have reviewed, stating that the records are recognized by that university as being authentic.

Scanned copies of diplomas/degree certificates are acceptable and should be emailed to Carolyn Christie at: carolyn_christie@fceatlanta.com.

Original or official transcripts must be mailed directly to our office. Scanned copies of transcripts are not acceptable.
